Auguste

When I started writing in earnest, in January 2010, I had a burning question that kept humming around in my brain and had been for many years. I felt persistently off balance and was deeply troubled by the lack of clarity I had in regards to the subject matter. So, my warrior artist self took drastic measures devoting myself as existential sleuth to my psyche’s problem. I got off the grid, sublet my apartment and left the city with my son, our Labrador and our cat (litter boxes and cars are exactly the disaster you might envision).

Meanwhile as I homeschooled my son, I wrote six to eight hours a day, because, upon departure from Los Angeles, I had given myself a year to solve my problem. Spilling out onto the page with sparkling clarity, the answer arrived in the 11th hour, at the end of the11th month. The result led me to grad school where I am now working on my dissertation in the phenomenology of Limit-Experience.

My writing habit is still fueled by travel and I often get called an entrepreneurial nomad. I accept this label as I give thanks that writing found me and helped me find myself. I now have a practice of helping others do the same. You can find out more about my writing and Limit Experience consultancy at my website, augustehill.com, where I currently also have situated a commitment to a daily blog about writing past beyond edges and, of course, the creative value of Existential Transience.
