I came to Berlin in mid-2014 to work in the computer game industry as a lead game designer. I've always been a writer in some fashion: I started writing games as a hobby in 1990 and made a living at it in the massively multiplayer online game industry since 2000. If you're curious, the job of the computer game writer is a huge one, ranging from writing art briefs, asset lists and descriptions, character biographies, names for thousands of items, game rules, tutorial text... all the way to story lines, cut scenes, press briefs, promotional materials, and dialogue.

I recently made the decision to start freelancing full-time, and am currently focused on game writing, working with publishers across the U.S., U.K., and Germany. This is my second experience as an expat: I lived in Japan for six years in the 1990s, and I've spent a disproportionate amount of my life traveling and adapting to new places. My new home of Berlin feels "right" for me as I begin this new phase of my professional career as a full-time writer. This vibrant, international city inspires me every day, and I'm looking forward to the future here.
